The party's over :-(

Well, the wedding was a huge success. I went up on Sunday the 14th and stayed at our favorite bed & breakfast for the first part of the week. Mike came up on Wednesday and then we stayed at the Depot with the rest of our out of town guests. Kate was a beautiful bride. We don't have the professional photos yet, but we did get some shots on our little digital.

The wedding was on Friday night and we had a gift opening on Saturday morning. They loved the quilt, although they were a bit overwhelmed by everything and didn't really take much time to look at it. They left Saturday afternoon for their honeymoon in Sonoma.
The whole thing just went by so fast, as I knew it would. Now I am trying to just sit back and relax with the memories.

It's really, truly, honest to goodness finished!

Diane at the quilt shop PROMISED me it would be done this week, but over the weekend I was starting to get a little anxious. The last time I had something professionally quilted (at a different shop, now out of business) it took months longer than they originally told me. So this morning I was playing this little mind game with myself about how long into the week I should wait to call and check the progress. Then at 9:26 am the phone rang, and it was Diane calling to tell me it was ready! I flew out to Katy (LOVE that Westpark Tollway!) and picked it up. I think it came out beautifully. I was changing the sheets today anyway, so I put it on our bed just to see how it would look. Here you can see the striped backing.
You can see the details of the quilting better here.
And here is the embroidery detail.
I am so relieved that it is done...one less thing to stress about. Now I have to pick up my skirt from the tailor...
